The Sound of Shell - ambitious and stirring adaptation
In the know. Let your data flow.
Montage of images showing various industrial images for power generation, off-highway and marine sectors.
“For many businesses, maintaining good machine health is key for profitability. Running an efficient operation means maximising the productivity of your equipment. The solution, lies in intelligent oil condition monitoring.”
Montage changes to include industrial scenes where workers are using computers and tablets.
“Shell Remote Sense uses leading techniques to identify and predict failures, combining oil analysis with artificial intelligence to diagnose and improve machine health.”
Montage changes to show tablet over industrial scene, with ‘Shell Remote Sense’ logo displayed on the tablet screen.
Animation of oil flow starts at the top of the screen, flowing down the screen. Camera zooms out and follows the motion of the oil. Illustrations of cogs and machinery parts enter the screen, which the oil flows around.
“Built on decades of Shell’s lubricant expertise and learning from a continuous stream of data, this smart, connected system monitors your equipment, alerts you of issues and offers customized recommendations based on accurate and up to date information.”
Machine parameters appear on the edge of the screen to the right of the oil flow. Remaining oil life counter counts down to 120 hours, TAN counter counts down to 2 mg/g.
“This is predictive analysis”
Oil flow transitions in a flow of ‘data’ in the form of 0s and 1s.
“It means having constant visibility of your lubricant and taking action only when your machine really needs it.”
Loading and analysis screens appear, showing Remaining Oil Life, Operating Hours and Viscosity charts.
Industrial worker in white overalls holds a mobile phone. Data flows down into the device.
“It means reduced downtime, extended equipment life, improved maintenance planning, and ultimately, savings in both time and money.”
Reduced downtime. Extended equipment life. Improved planning.
Chart showing outgoings of time and money decreasing and profit increasing.

From over the shoulder of the worker wearing PPE, the mobile phone screen shows the Remote Sense app with a list of machinery. The top piece of machinery is displaying a ‘critical’ alert.
Camera zooms in to the phone screen.
“This is the future of machine health.”
View of a mobile phone, a laptop and a tablet each showing the Remote Sense app screens, with a stream of data in the background.
Camera zooms in to the laptop screen, which displays the Remote Sense logo.

By delivering actionable insights and recommendations, we can help you to respond quicker to anomalies before failure occurs, reducing unplanned downtime.
In monitoring your oil condition, we can obtain a view of the health of your asset, which will help you to prioritise which assets need attention.
Once we have a view of the health of your equipment, we can provide recommendations to help you improve that health, meaning each equipment can run for longer before it needs replacing.
By understanding which assets need attention and when, you can improve your utilisation and boost your site’s productivity.
*Shell has been a market leader for over 13 years and draws on this experience as well as using market leading technology which is evaluated by Shell’s in-house technical and research teams.
The Remote Sense service has been deployed to engines running a variety of fuels – diesel, heavy fuel oil, sour gas, natural gas.
